Changelog

Everything that makes Buadren AC different from retail Asheron's Call. For the raw, line-by-line diff from retail, see the modifications spreadsheet.

At a glance

  • 5 concurrent clients allowed per account
  • 10x XP and 10x Luminance, each halved (roughly) with every Enlightenment
  • Tier 8 loot can roll up to +2 D/DR on armor
  • Ratings can roll up to +5 V/HB on jewelry, and +5 D/DR on underclothes and cloaks
  • No spell component burn
  • Fellowships up to 15 — join from anywhere by messaging a member "xp," and any level shares XP evenly with any other

125 Eaters get sharper teeth

  • 125 Eaters now have two additional jaw droppers.

Arwic moves to Marketplace

Content that had been custom-placed in Arwic is moving (or has moved) to Marketplace, finishing a relocation that's been planned for a while — it's time to de-custom that landblock.

The Rebaser

Server code is now current with upstream ACE, with our customizations put back on top. The database is likewise current, with most of our customizations re-applied. This kicked off an ongoing effort to track down anything that isn't quite as it should be content-side — reports welcome in server-enhancement-ideas.

Luminance from high-level kills

  • All level 200+ monsters now award a small amount of Luminance (you still need to be Luminance-flagged).
  • Tier 8 areas remain the best Luminance-per-kill, but the intent is to make other hunting and questing more attractive relative to squatting T8 areas.

Tier 5 rares cleanup

  • Removed infinite Deadly Arrowheads — dated and obsolete.
  • Removed Foolproof Salvage Bags — easily acquired through alt currency.
  • Removed infinite Ivory/Leather — available on vendor.
  • FR max contracts increased to 300 (lightly tested).

Weapon rare exchange

Shorty McShortpants in Marketplace will exchange weapon rares found in the wild before April 2025 for their upgraded versions. Experience on the weapon is forfeited in the trade.

Rare weapons, finally updated

Rare weapons are now attainable in two ways:

  • As a regular rare drop from a corpse — not attuned or bonded.
  • Purchased from Wendi the Wise with Tokens of Wisdom — attuned and bonded.

Troy exchanges items bought from Wendi back into their equivalent Wisdom Tokens.

Not an April Fools' joke

  • Wrapped Deadly Prismatic Arrowheads, Arrowshafts, and Quarrelshafts now stack to 1000 (previously 100).
  • Prior Kothmox drops 5 staves in the Society Lords Test (previously 1).
  • Massive Mana Charges are now sellable.
  • Enhanced Health and Mana Elixirs are no longer attuned.
  • The TN portal in Marketplace now drops you on the Annex side.

Better fellowship invites

The "xp" message command now works to re-invite players to over-maxed, locked fellowships, and players sending the command get a server response explaining why they weren't invited if it fails.

Re-balancing the Force: loot enchantment rework

A buffs-only rebalance (cantrips unaffected):

  • Armor now defaults to 1 enchantment with a chance at a 2nd (previously 0 with a chance at 1). Clothing "armors" are unaffected and remain 1–3 enchantments.
  • Creature, Void, War, and Assess spells removed from spell tables entirely.
  • Tinker skills removed from all tables except Crowns and Tinker set items.
  • Alchemy and Cooking removed from all tables except Leather Caps and Crafter set items.
  • Spell groupings attached to armor slots were reworked across the board.

Keylore clones himself

Keylore's key-selling services are now also available at FV, TouTou, and Neftet.

Ultimate keys from T8 kill tasks

Kill task rewards in the Hoshino and Rynthid tier 8 areas now give Ultimate Legendary Keys instead of Durables, and Luminance rewards there were adjusted upward.

Legendary chest pulls get bigger

Legendary Weapon and Armor chests in Arwic now give a random 10–20 items per pull. The Ultimate Legendary chest gives 20.

VR drop rates, tinkering & society armor

  • Amber shard drop rates increased on all non-boss monsters.
  • Luminous Amber Gems can now be tinkered multiple times, depending on armor tinkering skill and the workmanship of the armor.
  • Luminance rewards increased for most kill tasks.
  • Oak Weapons removed from Kervim'telek and moved to Dargen; Oak Weapons now carry Crushing Blow.
  • Amber shard turn-ins increased: Night Brier and Wind Fury now give 60, Norshuntyr gives 80, Zerzelikyr gives 100. Refunds for unwanted items at Kervim'telek were also increased.
  • Society armor set bonuses increased: 2 pieces = +4 attributes, 4 = +8, 6 = +13, 8 = +20, 9 = +30.

Elixirs, Pictographs & Aetheria rework

  • Rare Elixirs and Medicated Kits removed from the Tier 2/3 rare system — now purchasable from Quis in your Society Stronghold.
  • Rare Tier 5 Pictographs no longer cast a level 7 buff; instead they cast the legendary cantrip of the attribute they represent, and moved from Tier 5 to Tier 3, greatly increasing the odds of getting one — or a full set.
  • Aetheria's chance table was reworked, making level 4/5 Aetheria more likely in higher-tier monster and hunting zones.

Society chests & Arwic vendors

  • Chests that award dedication set pieces now give 5 items (previously 2), with chest luck raised to 94% (previously 0%). The 20-hour timer on handing in armor writs for these chests was also removed — keep handing in writs even if an NPC's text still says "once a day."
  • Vendors and clicky portals were moved from Arwic to Marketplace, with the Arwic versions to follow soon after.
  • Work on updated rare weapons was ongoing during this period, with a handful available from Wendi the Wise and the same versions findable in the wild (unattuned/unbonded) — this work was completed in April 2025, above.

Better questing rewards

Legendary chests at the end of legendary quests now have the highest luck factor in the game, at 94%.

Thanksgiving loot update

Aged legendary keys and society trade tokens can now be exchanged for Ultimate Legendary Keys, which open the Ultimate Legendary Key Chests in Arwic.

  • Buy Ultimate Legendary Keys from Keylore in Arwic, or from your Society Quartermaster using society trade tokens (under the Keys tab).
  • Regular legendary chests roll at a 30% luck factor; Ultimate chests roll at 80% — still RNG, but far more likely to favor you.

This exists because aged keys eat pack space and regular legendary chests are slow to pull from — and it gives a reason to run T8 areas that only drop aged keys.

The Enlightenment update

A redesign of what happens once you enlighten — the requirements to enlighten are unchanged. Maximum Enlightenments raised to 4. Each one grants:

  • 5 skill points to all skills
  • 10 vitality points
  • A 50% reduction in XP and Luminance gain from kills
  • 1 Token of Wisdom, spendable with Wendi the Wise in Arwic (who carries rare jewelry, armor, weapons, and other eternal items)

Rare jewelry and armor cantrips were uplifted to Legendary, and rare jewelry gained Essence Glutton. Wendi's rare jewelry, armor, and weapons are attuned/bonded; her Eternal Kits and Mana Charges are bonded.

The XP/Luminance reduction stacks multiplicatively rather than simply subtracting 50% each time:

  • After 1st Enlightenment — 5x rate
  • After 2nd — 2.5x
  • After 3rd — 1.25x
  • After 4th — 0.63x
Do yourself a favor: handle burden augmentations and mule off heavy equipment before committing to Enlightenment. Attributes can reset and leave you well over 300 burden before your Token of Wisdom and Certificate of Attribute Reset arrive. You've been warned.
